Monopoly champions 2015

On Wednesday 27 May 2015, the boys from third class headed over to the NCI to take part in the annual Monopoly competition. The few weeks of tough practice in class paid off as the Larriers emerged victorious in 6 of their 11
games to claim first prize overall!

They received a €100 cheque for the class which they have decided to spend on a class party at the end of the year!

Inspired by yesterday’s intense game, Shane and Paul wrote two fantastic pieces on Monopoly!

Monopoly

I like to play monopoly in school and at home. You play with two dice. I like to get the airport, the train stations and the bus stations. I love to go past ‘GO’ to collect €200.

How to play Monopoly

1. Take out the board and each player gets to pick a token.

2. Give everyone the amount of money shown on the instructions

3. Roll the dice to see who gets to go first. The person who gets the highest number wins and then from the player who got the highest number it goes clockwise.

4. Then put all the tokens on go. 'GO' is very cool because when you go past it you get €200.

5. If you buy  property you get the card for it. The card shows you how much people pay you they land on your property.

6.  If you don’t want to buy a place you can put it on auction which means other people can offer prices for the property. The person who offers the highest price wins.

7. If you land on go to jail you go diagonally to the other jail place. There are four ways to get out.

·         Wait three turns and then roll the dice normally

·         Use a get out of jail card which will be explained later.

·         Pay €50 and get out on the next turn.

8. If you land on a chance card or community chest you get a second card. It is either a good or bad one. The get out of jail card is a chance card

9.   To buy a house you need to own all properties of the same colour and       when you land on your property you can buy a house there.

10.            To get a hotel you must have 4 properties on all properties.

11.            If you run out of money you can mortgage your house.

Blaine's Best Christmas Present

Check out the amazing story Blaine wrote for Homework on his first day back! Well done Blaine!

My Christmas Present
When Christmas morning came, I was so excited to see what Santa brought me. I jumped out of bed and ran to the sitting room. I first noticed a bike! Then a jet, two games for my 3-D DS and a star wars space ship. I seen a little box on the floor and I said to myself ‘What’s that?’ I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was a Samsung Galaxy phone! I was delighted because my last phone broke! It was by far my favourite Christmas present.

Croke Park Tour

Croke Park

Yesterday me and my class went on a trip to Croke park. So we visited the Croke park museum. A lady brought us on the tour and first we saw a short film named 'A summer in September.' Then we went to where the teams buses enter Croke park and the team's changing rooms. We got to stand where the teams are presented with their trophies and some of us even sat in the presidents seat! The best bit was going into the corporate boxes, they were very nice. After the tour we got to try some GAA activities. It was a great day.
